Winter break with Bodhi plus a giveaway

Bodhi is on Winter break for the next two weeks. I originally thought I would be SO stressed trying to squeeze in work with him home, but instead, I’ve decided to take the time off from work and take B on some fun adventures. Since he started preschool, we no longer get mornings together so rarely do anything fun out of the house. We used to go somewhere almost daily. We have several fun things planned.

One activity I’m so excited about is the Great RiverCentre Train Show on Dec. 28 and 29. Let’s face it. Little boys (for the most part) love trains!

The event includes:

  • Model railroad displays
  • Model train vendors
  • Three FREE inflatables to jump in
  • FREE ride-on train for the kids
  • Multiple Thomas the Tank Engine play tables
  • Children’s activity area
  • Railroad museums and authors will have displays
  • The Choo Choo Bob Show will be performing live on stage.  Meet the cast members, sing along to your favorite songs and enjoy the live show.

We also plan to do some other fun activities:

  • Head to Macy’s 8th floor SantaLand display downtown Minneapolis (Monday).
  • Visit the Minnesota Children’s Museum (one of our favorite places).
  • Go out for brunch at least once. B loves sipping hot cocoa with me at coffee shops and cafes. :)
  • Meet daddy for lunch.
  • Play in the snow at our park.
  • Go to Mallcamerca (As Bodhi calls it. Otherwise known as Mall of America) for lunch and rides. :)
  • At least a couple of play dates with friends and neighbors.
  • Visit a sweet new baby in our neighborhood.
  • Shop for and pack for our trip to Sri Lanka.
  • A winter photo shoot (but I’ll disguise this as playing).

Do you take time off during your children’s winter breaks? Or if you don’t have kids, are you taking extra time off? What will you do! Lay in bed? Read? Everything sounds so good right now!

The Giveaway is now closed. The winner is Jenny B. Thank you to all who entered!

Giveaway time!

You can win the Choo Choo Bob holiday DVD and a four-pack of tickets to the Train Show. Just leave a comment below telling me how you plan to spend the next few days with your family. I’ll pick a winner on Monday at 5 p.m. CST. If you’re not in Minnesota, you are still eligible to win the DVD and tickets. You can give the tickets away or just accept the fun DVD.

We will be celebrating christmas with one family this weekend and the other on Christmas eve. Thankfully they are both closeby but that leaves a lot of free time for us. Hockey games will be attended, but that won’t fill up a lot of time. Thankfully there will be lots of new things to play with! Our son loves choo choo bob. We catch him occasionally on tv but have never known where to find him. The chance to see him would be excellent! If I wouldn’t win tickets, could I buy them somewhere?

Hi Sally! I’ll check on that. I’m pretty sure you could get them at the door, but I’ll get back to you. Fingers crossed for you to win! :)

Fun! As I read your post I smiled because we’re off all next week and plan on doing some of the exact same things you are :) We’re heading to the Macy’s 8th floor on Monday…let us know if you want to coordinate the fun! We also want to go to the “Frozen” movie (the craziness of year end and holiday prep hasn’t allowed to yet!!)

We plan to spend time with our family and friends for Christmas this year. We will be staying close to home as all 5 gatherings we are attending are close to home. Our oldest son LOVES trains and hopes that Santa will get him a lot of toy trains to play with this year.

Many of our planned Christmas activities have had to be cancelled since I have to have an unexpected surgery tomorrow! Merry Christmas to me :( I am going to send the hubby out today to get some new train books for Liam and Olivia though and we will be baking/decorating cookies for santa and other fun things we can do at home. Luckily I will be recovered by the time the train expo is going on!! Ive been talking to Liam about it for months. I definitely share his train enthusiasm ;)
Merry Christmas and thanks for the oppurtunity to win tickets!

Would love to win! My 3 year old loves trains! I’ve been wanting to take him to the Choo Choo Bob store in St Paul sometime!

I just had a nephew born on Friday. So hopefully our next few days involve my two kids meeting their new cousin! (He’s still in the hospital right now, and my kids are too young to visit there).
