It’s house projects galore around here! We have guests coming in a couple of weeks from D.C. so we decided this is a great “deadline” for us to get some things done that we’ve been meaning to do.

We’re also throwing a huge dinner party so we’d like the house in tip-top shape! My in-laws are from Sri Lanka and are inviting many friends to our home to visit with our D.C. guests! Sri Lankan dinner parties typically consist of a huge crowd of fun people and 10 or more dishes! This doesn’t include dessert! So, off we go to get this house in order.

We bought the Karlstad sectional at Ikea the week we moved in. We loved the fabric, the comfort and the price! What we didn’t love? The legs! See above. They don’t match anything we have.

We let it go for a while, but decided to copy get inspired by Sherry and John at Young House Love.

Most of our woods are dark other than a super cool and super long TV stand we scored at Room and Board Outlet.

Here is how we brought it all together.

Sand and prime!

Then we followed the Young House Love directions almost exactly. We used the Rustoleum oil rubbed bronze metallic paint. We weren’t so smart about standing them up though. Oops!

And Ta Daaaa!

I know it’s not a dramatic improvement, but it is definitely something that was needed. Now instead of being a bit of an eyesore, the legs blend in just the way we like them.

This should be the end of our spray painting adventures for a few weeks. I swear! Maybe…
