We love surprising good friends and neighbors with treats during the holiday season. And I love putting together EASY recipes that the boys can help with. This recipe is a perfect one to work on with the kids.
So, I brought my boys to the kitchen and we got to work on these delicious and pretty adorable Peppermint S’mores Brownie Dump cakes.
Peppermint S’mores Brownie Individual Dump Cake Recipe
Ingredients
- CRISCO® No-Stick Cooking Spray
- Marshmallows. I prefer the mini size but any size would do
- Pretzels
- Pillsbury™ Family Size Chocolate Fudge Brownie Mix
- Butter
- M&M’S® Brand Minis Milk Chocolate Baking Bits
- Pillsbury™ Funfetti® Red Vanilla Flavored Frosting
- ™ Funfetti® Green Vanilla Flavored Frosting
- Candy canes
Directions
- Spray your ramekins with cooking spray.
- Crush pretzels, but leave them in pieces.
- Place about 8 broken up pretzels (or a handful) in the bottom of the ramekin.
- Add 7-10 mini marshmallows.
- Top with 2-3 Tablespoons of brownie mix. Make sure that the pretzels and marshmallows are covered.
- Top the brownie mix with pads of cold straight out of the fridge butter.
- Bake at 375 degrees for about 8 minutes. Check them. If the butter is all melted and powdery spots remain, add more butter.
- Bake for 5 minutes or until brownie mix is crisp but not burnt. Marshmallows will bubble up and the containers will appear very full.
- Remove from oven. Top with crushed candy cane, M&M’S® Brand Minis Milk Chocolate Baking Bits and Pillsbury™ Funfetti® Green and/or Red Vanilla Flavored Frosting.
Serve and enjoy!
When they were finished and cooled, we put them in a cute little box, topped it with our Christmas card and delivered it to dear friends. Perfection!
Of course, we enjoyed a bite or two by the Christmas tree as well.
Sweet treats are two gifts in one—the gift of family time while we bake together and sample, of course, and the gift of a sweet treat to those we love.
All of our Pillsbury™ products were found at Walmart in the Baking Aisle. You can purchase all of the other ingredients at your local Walmart store as well.
These look beyond amazing and I must make now, Yum!!! #client
Oh, my! Yummy! I want some now…..lol thanks for sharing.
We LOVE dump cake! Thanks for the fun recipe!
What if you don’t have ramikens? What else can you use?
You can just use a glass baking pan and do a full size one. :)
Coffee mugs?
That’s a great idea, Renae!
Sounds delish! I couldn’t see where you added the frosting….they didn’t look as if they even needed it from the pictures.
They really don’t need it! I actually just used the frosting to decorate the top on a couple of them, but you’re right. Totally unnecessary!
Sounds scrumptious! With the coffee mug idea..will the coffee mugs be able to withstand the oven heat?, I’m wanting to use holiday design mugs
Also how many cups or ramekins does the recipe make?
I really don’t know. I might try to come up with a microwave version that would work in a coffee mug. I’ll keep you posted. :)
What size are the ramekins?
Directions say bake until crisp. So this is not a cake-like consistency? It’s crunchy through the whole thing?
Hi Mary,
Yes, the top is crisp. The batter underneath is softer, but definitely not cake like as this is more of a “dump cake” than a cake. Thanks for stopping by!
I offered Joe this or “decadent peanut butter pie” as a dessert option for Christmas and he chose this one. Can’t wait to try it. Looks SO good!
I didn’t understand if the brownie mix was made into a batter per directions on the box or just added dry. Please advise.
Made this in a 13 x9 pan. Very disappointed in how they turned out. Had to use two sticks of butter just to cover brownie mix. Did not puff up like mentioned in recipe. Watched carefully while baking so as not to overcook. After cooling, went to cut and extremely hard. Looks yummy on recipe but so disappointed with finished product
I’m so sorry to hear this. I’m not sure what may have happened. I will say that the top is quite crunchy/hard, but underneath was the texture of the marshmallows mixed with the brownie batter on ours. I’ll try it in a large pan and adjust the recipe to make it work. Thank you for sharing your experience so I can attempt to fix it.
We LOVE dump cake! Thanks for the fun recipe!
