Our Very Merry Cocktail party plus a bubbly bar recipe

We hosted our annual Very Merry Cocktail party on Saturday night including a fun bubbly bar with Freixenet (pronounced “fresh-eh-net”). I love hosting this annual party as there is no better time than the holidays to get your home looking all glitzy and to celebrate with friends.

We served simple appetizers including a mashed potato bar. Our dessert buffet had a variety of sweet treats. And I loved putting together our party favor station this year as well.

While we had an open bar, our signature drink is our bubbly station each year. This year I made two infused simple syrups to include at the bubbly bar along with Freixenet Cordon Negro Brut. I picked the Brut because it’s the perfect sparkling wine for adding simple syrups or fruit.

Plus, this “black bottle bubbly” looks classy at any party.

Pomegranate Mint Simple Syrup recipe

Ingredients

  • Fresh pomegranate seeds
  • 2 T fresh pomegranate juice
  • 5 sprigs of fresh mint (washed)
  • 1.5 cups sugar
  • 2 cups water

Directions

  1. Pour water and sugar in medium saucepan. Turn stove to medium high heat.
  2. Add in the mint, pomegranate seeds and pomegranate juice.
  3. Stir regularly until it comes to a boil.
  4. Let boil for 1 minute or until all sugar dissolves.
  5. Turn off heat. Let cool in saucepan.
  6. Pour the mixture in a bowl to cool in the fridge for several days.
  7. On the day of the party, strain the syrup to remove the seeds and mint.
  8. Enjoy!

Orange Rosemary Ginger Simple Syrup recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 T orange rind
  • 1 large ginger peeled and cut into 1/4 inch pieces.
  • 4 sprigs of rosemary (washed)
  • 1.5 cups sugar
  • 2 cups water

Directions

  1. Pour water and sugar in medium saucepan. Turn stove to medium high heat.
  2. Add in the orange rind, ginger and rosemary.
  3. Stir regularly until it comes to a boil.
  4. Let boil for 1 minute or until all sugar dissolves.
  5. Turn off heat. Let cool in saucepan.
  6. Pour the mixture in a bowl to cool in the fridge for several days.
  7. On the day of the party, strain the syrup to remove the rind, ginger and rosemary.
  8. Enjoy!

How delicious does this sound? I also added pomegranate seeds, raspberries and rock candy to the bubbly bar. It was dark so I didn’t get many great photo that night.

Gorgeous party Jessica. I’m thinking of doing an all white winter theme for Juliet’s 2nd birthday so this is providing lots of lovely inspiration!

All white is so much fun! Let me know if you need anything for it. :)I have lots of white fabric, white sequinned covered boxes for the dessert table, white frames, white vases, white birch straws, the fringe garland etc… :) Not kidding. Seriously. Let me know. ;)
