Remember this post where I showed you a simple Sauder bookshelf and how much more unique it looked with a little wallpaper on the back? It was an EASY DIY. Today, I’m going to show you two ways I can use that same bookshelf for completely different purposes. Today’s post is sponsored by Sauder.

With Christmas just days away and our Very Merry Cocktail Party still fresh in my mind, I put together a simple champagne bar using Sauder’s simple white bookshelf. You could easily do any kind of bar on this bookshelf.

For our very merry cocktail party, we often go through 50-70 wine glasses. Sometimes finding a spot to hold all the glasses is a challenge. You could actually fit most of them on the shelves if you were looking for a space to store them for a bar.

Simply adding bubbly, straws, some syrups and a little decor, makes this bookshelf the perfect bar or substitute for a bar cart, which I find to be a bit impractical with children at this point in my life.

The second way I styled it was as a simple mudroom or entry table. With two little ones, I’m always grabbing a lot of stuff on my way out the door. From keys and glasses to baby hats and lunchboxes, my hands are full. We have a fully functioning mudroom, so this wouldn’t be the way I’d use it in our current home, but it makes a great mudroom or entry table for organizing yourself on the way out the door.

Simply add a tray or hooks for keys, glasses, sunglasses and more. Add a basket for hats and mittens and feel free to put your most important shoes or boots on the bottom.

I added my diaper bag and Bodhi’s backpack since those are two things we rarely leave home without.

Now, in our lives, we are actually using this shelf for its intended purpose: as a bookshelf. We store a variety of books on it in our bedroom. We were finding ourselves reading to the boys in our bedroom at night and had stacks of books on the floor and dresser. This was a great solution and works well with our current decor in our master bedroom. But, I love that I can pull this shelf out whenever I need an extra bar, shelf or way to organize something. It’s a perfect little piece to have around for many occasions.
