Losing the baby weight with small changes

I am getting a bit vulnerable today friends. After Bodhi was born more than four years ago, I lost 50 pounds of “baby weight” before going back to work after my maternity leave. It came off pretty easily because he was a bit fussy and needed constant movement. I walked miles every day with him in the baby carrier. The movement calmed him. This was a win-win for us.

With Ezra who is chill and didn’t require constant walking, bouncing and movement, I’ve held on to the last 15-20 pounds for a long long time now-since at least November of last year.

Today I’m excited to share how I’ve gained a ton of energy from exercise and healthier eating and lost nine of the last 15 pounds in eight weeks with some simple (and admittedly, a few not so simple) changes.

In late June, while reading one of my favorite books, an idea hit me. I had been feeling really low energy and generally kind of heavy mentally and physically. The idea was so simple. Just start. Start now. Don’t wait for some magical date. So I did. I went running that day. I made it half a mile before feeling completely defeated, but you have to start somewhere friends.

I started tracking my food and beverages on an app on my phone. I know myself well and I know that running and other exercises always give me a lot of energy. While the weight loss benefits are nice, the energy is what it’s all about with two active boys.

After a few days of tracking and running, I came up with a plan. The plan included nutritious foods, exercise, tracking my diet and more. I knew my big pitfall was desserts and more than 300 calories worth of coffee creamer in the mornings. I wanted desserts at all hours of the day. So I had to make some changes to help me with my mad sweet tooth.

One of the huge changes that has helped me avoid these treats was (and still is) having a hot cup of herbal tea with Born Sweet® Zing™ Zero Calorie Stevia Sweetener every afternoon when I crave cookies, cake and more.

I was also a heavy coffee creamer user which is a ton of calories and wasn’t cutting it when I was trying to lose the last of the baby weight. I switched to a high protein milk along with Zing™ Zero Calorie Stevia Sweetener in my morning coffee. Big changes have yielded nice results. I run five or six days a week and can now make it to three miles pretty comfortably. I track my food and drinks every single day and I’ve been able to lose nine pounds in eight weeks fairly easily.

A coffee date: A day in the life of a freelance writer

I still get to eat a lot of healthy nutritious foods, drink fun beverages like my daily coffee and tea and enjoy the added energy and weight loss that come from a healthy lifestyle.

Four ways to make a change today

  1. Start your day with high protein milk sweetened with Zing™ Stevia Sweetener instead of high calorie (and tons of artificial ingredients) coffee creamer.
  2. When a sweets craving hits, grab a sweet herbal tea (teas with licorice and cinnamon tend to work well for me) and add Zing™ Zero Calorie Stevia Sweetener.
  3. Track your food and beverage intake in an app on your phone. I love My Fitness Pal. It doesn’t mean you have to cut calories (unless you want to), but it’s a great way to be really conscious of what you’re putting in your body and to make sure you are hitting protein and other nutrition goals.
  4. Create a “no eating in the car” rule. Instead, I grab a cup of tea with Zing™ Zero Calorie Stevia Sweetener, an ice water with fresh squeezed lemon or another healthier beverage. I found that I often mindlessly ate in the car and that was not helping me reach my goals.

I’m having great success with weight loss by simply eating healthy, exercising and using tea to curb my sweet tooth. Having a bit of Zing™ Zero Calorie Stevia Sweetener in my coffee and tea makes all the difference. It gives me the little bit of sweetness I need to push through with a healthy day of food and exercise that will promote my ongoing weight loss and healthy lifestyle.

Enjoy the delicious sweetening experience of Zing™ Stevia Sweetener. Made with only real ingredients – nothing artificial, it has the perfect sweetness found in Mother Nature’s stevia plant.
