A pineapple and watermelon baby shower with a nod to Dirty Dancing. Today we celebrate one of my closest friends in the world and her baby boy who is expected to arrive towards the end of October. This blog post has the longest title in the seven years this blog has existed. I just had to entice you to read with the Dirty Dancing mention. ;) Watch for signs with a few clever phrases.

A pineapple and watermelon baby shower with a nod to Dirty Dancing. I cohosted this watermelon and pineapple baby shower with three of my other dear friends from High School. We’ve all been friends FOREVER! And I’m so grateful. These are the girls I do a trip with every couple of years and no matter how far apart we are (the mama-to-be lives in Baltimore), we stay close always and are there for each other when anyone has a need.

A pineapple and watermelon baby shower with a nod to Dirty Dancing. This past year has been a big year of change for this group of five ladies (babies born, personal challenges, job changes and more) so having a day to simply celebrate, enjoy each other and sip some bubbly was lovely! And I have to tell you. These women are the best ever to plan a shower with. They rocked so many aspects of the party, but especially the food which was quite the spread! Are you ready to see the details of this party?!

Watermelon, basil, mozzarella skewersThe same cupcake toppers worked perfectly for our watermelon, basil and mozzarella with balsamic skewers. These were a simple appetizer and blended well with the party theme.

Nobody puts baby in the corner baby shower signWhile the shower is definitely about the baby, we chose everything to simply celebrate the mama-to-be, rather than feel like a traditional baby shower. We made sure the signs brought us back to our days watching Dirty Dancing in our bedrooms. “Nobody puts baby in the corner!”

Pineapple watermelon baby shower cakeThe dessert table backdrop (along with the party favor tags and all other signs) was designed by Natalie of A Pretty Little Party just for us. She does almost all of my party paper products now. We printed it at Driftwood Printing. This was my first time working with Erica and her team from Driftwood and everything went really well! And for the size, the prices can’t be beat. :)

Watermelon salt water taffy baby shower party favorsParty favors were simple and super affordable. We bought watermelon salt water taffy in bulk. We packaged the taffy in simple white bakery bags and finished them off with aqua baker’s twine and a cute party favor tag.

Baby… you are one in a melon! :)

Watermelon salt water taffy baby shower party favorsI loved that this party had all kinds of pretty, festive and cheerful colors.

A pineapple and watermelon baby shower with a nod to Dirty Dancing. My cohost Angie helped me to show off our little pineapple stickers, a simple yet fun detail. Nobody puts baby in the corner baby shower signAnd here is our beautiful friend, the mama-to-be, Katie. Sadly, Katie was under the weather on her shower day which was also the day we went to the Dixie Chicks concert and the Minnesota State Fair. At 32 weeks pregnant, she was SUCH a champ.

Nobody puts baby in the corner baby shower signAnd our littlest guest, sweet Genevieve, gave everyone baby fever. She didn’t make a peep the entire party. Just tons of smiles and playing. LOVE her!

pineapple cookiesSadly, I didn’t get a photo of the main food. Our friend Leah did most of the food and it was amazing!

This may be the last baby shower I host for a while. I have one more cousin I’m counting on having a baby in the next few years, but that may be it. We loved pouring our hearts and creativity into a pretty day for our amazing, loyal friend Katie.

Watermelong baby showerOh, and sweet baby Lincoln! I’m flying to Baltimore with Leah (one of the cohosts) in December to help out and give our friend some company. I can’t wait to get my hands on this little guy and my arms around his mama!

Mama-to-beTo our beautiful friend Katie,

You are going to rock this mama thing! And when things aren’t perfect or what you expected, we have your back.

Much love, hugs and support,
Your besties
