Earth Month serves as a timely reminder that we can all do our part each day to help conserve water – in our own backyard and beyond. After having a child, I care even more about this. I did care before, but there is something about having a child that makes you want to make the world better.

Conserving water is a lot simpler than people may think. It’s easy to decrease our daily water footprint in small ways.

Five easy ways to conserve water

  1. Turn off the water while your brush your teeth.
  2. Take a shorter shower each day or shower with your baby to eliminate a bit of bath water.
  3. Drink Silk soymilk, almondmilk or coconutmilk in place of dairy milk.
  4. When you drop an ice cube or have an unfinished glass of water after it sits on your bedside table, use these things to water your plants.
  5. Be sure to only run your dishwasher when it is completely full and set your washing machine for the proper load size when doing laundry.

Fresh water is one of the planet’s most precious resources. Making a simple swap like consuming Silk soymilk, almondmilk and coconutmilk versus conventional dairy milk saves 500 gallons of water per half gallon. That’s an astonishing statistic. We frequently buy both Silk soymilk and almondmilk to change up our intake. B LOVES both the soymilk and almondmilk in the mornings and mixed into shakes and smoothies.

Plant-based beverages like Silk often require fewer resources than their animal-based counterparts as farmers must grow feed and raise cows for the finished product. Eating lower on the food chain is simply less water intensive.

Throughout Earth Month, consider making water conservation part of your daily routine. Check out this adorable video for a few, um, practical ways to change your routine. :)

This video is my favorite, but there are others and they were all created to celebrate, inspire and educate about the importance of water.

One half gallon of Silk conserves enough water to offset the equivalent of 500 teeth brushing sessions, 20 showers or more than 10 loads of laundry.

Check out silk.com/yaywater and celebrate the universal joy that water brings.
