A few of the women in my neighborhood who either stay home or work from home got together to meet a new member of the ‘hood yesterday. We celebrated our neighbor (and someone I consider a dear friend) Ashley (stop by her blog. Super cute party post is up) and her new baby boy Luca who was just two weeks old yesterday. She is now the mama of two boys (like me!).
Our neighborhood is special. I’ve talked about it many times before. There is a bond that can’t be broken (unless you move out, I’m guessing). We genuinely like each other and we try hard to surround people with love when they need it. When someone is ill or dealing with something difficult, people come together to help.
And when families welcome a new addition, this neighborhood surrounds that mama and baby with love in a big way. After Ezra was born, I was amazed by the gift drop-offs for big brother Bodhi and the new baby plus offers of dinner and help. It just eases the overwhelm.
And these women surrounded Ashley and her sweet new babe with love yesterday as well. Besides love and friendship, we put together a sweet indulgent morning with coffee, NESTLÉ® COFFEE-MATE® Chocolate Boutique creamers and a big dessert-style brunch table plus the best conversations.
I kept it simple with just coffee cake, donuts and scones plus a coffee bar complete with french press decaf and regular. I’m currently obsessed with french press coffee. So good!
Conversation flowed between women. Many of us got snuggles in with the new baby boy and a few kiddos joined the fun too!
Next up, party favors. For such a small group, it was extra fun to do something a little bigger than I’d normally do because I only had to buy for seven women (vs 50-80 at our cocktail party or 40 at my cousin’s recent bridal shower).
I sent each of our guests home with a small gift basket to remember the day.
The party favor basket area included all kinds of goodies from watercolor paint and mini canvases plus watercolor paint cards to mini cherry pies and creamer.
Mini pies are one of my favorite party favors lately. They can be so cute with just baker’s twine around them. Simple, edible and pretty! I let each guest put them in a simple plastic bag before leaving.
The baskets were simple yet springy and hopefully a little inspirational for these wonderful women!
A few guests even painted during the party which was fun!
And one of the fabulous guests who is Bodhi’s age took over my canvas for me which was fitting for the party and every day for me. :) Peace. Love. Coffee!
The party filled up my literal and figurative cup. I love hosting small gatherings that don’t take much work, but still allow you to get creative and have fun hosting. Everything at this gathering was watercolor and spring inspired. Spending time with amazing women always feels great too . A new life with a new baby is inspiring and a reminder of how beautiful this life is. And coffee. I love a good cup of coffee.
