This summer, just a little over a month after Ezra was born, I got to walk to a neighbor’s house for a super fun party. Our friend Alexa was turning 40 and she put on an amazing event on a hot early August evening. The party was an elegant, candle-lit psychic inspired ladies-night out, a party unlike any I had ever attended before. Talk about making a puffy faced new mama feel fancy. :)
The food, beverages, desserts and decor were simply stunning. Just wanted to note that I had nothing to do with planning this event. I got to be a guest. :) Read on to learn more about how this amazing party was pulled together. All photos were taken by our neighbor and friend Gina, who also did our gender reveal and a few other sessions for our family.
The desserts were SO good.
We were welcomed by a gorgeous table with name tags and a fun throwback party favor. And the table was covered in candles. It was stunning.
Yes, a Magic 8 Ball! I forgot to grab one before I ran out to feed the babe, but thought they were the perfect party favor.
With 400+ mercury glass candles dispersed around the house, the mood was set for an intimate and cozy evening.
While I had to leave about an hour and a half in to run home to a crying Ezra, I was able to feed and head back since it was two minutes away.
Guests were asked to sign in and to decide if they wanted a psychic reading or not. Most chose to do it and enjoyed it while others didn’t. Such a fun option if you’re into it.
Becca from Jubilee Weddings & Events (a Minnesota based event planning company) worked to bring Alexa’s vision to life for the party and did a great job. Everything from the candles to the gorgeous blooms were impeccable.
Of course, my favorite part of the entire night was getting time in with some of my favorite ladies! Alexa, the birthday girl, is one of those kind, sweet, bubbly women who you instantly feel happy around. We’re all lucky to have her in our ‘hood.
I almost didn’t share this photo since I’m wearing my “postpartum glow.” ;) But, I love showing you a few of my fabulous neighbors enjoying the evening. Another mama, Robin, was just a few weeks postpartum. That’s the nice thing about being in a social neighborhood. You feel like you have a social life even if it’s just for an hour or two.
The wonderful birthday girl enjoyed the night and it was SO much fun to have time with her and the others without our children, which is a bit rare.
Becca also shared the details about the decor, the caterer and more below.
From Becca
Decor: Working with Festivities on this event was the perfect combination. Their ability to coordinate the florals with my linen selection allowed for the vision to flow seamlessly. Laura from LMS Designs provided the stunning stationery complete with hand calligraphy. A party cannot be complete without special DIY touches…. including the letter A guest book keepsake and the name tag display frame, crafted by yours truly.
The Caterer: Aurelie from Lila Buffet Styling was the perfect caterer to work with on this event. She specializes in creating gorgeous buffet layouts, and her work at this party was no exception. Her design skills paired perfectly with my vision and high attention to detail. Together we created a masterpiece. The candles and floral arrangements in the buffets needed to remain as the main focal points, so we kept the food and dessert spread simple, but elegantly presented.

Such a unique theme! The neighborhood is wonderful. Thankfully I’ve been able to lose a few pounds, but still have some serious running to do. ;)
What a beautiful and fun party! The sweets look amazing.
It was SO good! And seriously is the epitome of “live the fancy life.” :) Turning 40 seems like the perfect excuse to throw a huge party. I may have to do that in a few years. :)
This is such an awesome idea executed perfectly! The colors are so fitting for the theme!
Aren’t they?! The purples made it so moody and fun!
