saving money and a lighting dilemma

If you’re a frequent reader of live the fancy life, you know that I love to find ways to save money. Whether it’s a do-it-yourself home project, buying something on overstock.com to save a bit, signing up for Amazon Mom and the subscribe and save program or using coupons, saving a few dollars is a thrill for me.

I also shop online for a large portion of our necessities for my sweet guy above. This ranges from baby food and diapers to our favorite Method baby laundry detergent and more. Besides often being less expensive, it is so much easier with my little guy as I’d much rather play in the park for hours than trek to Target. Are you with me?

I literally never buy anything online without a coupon code and free shipping. My husband finds it hilarious and annoying sometimes since it can mean that we wait a while before getting something we may need because I spend way too much time trying to find coupon codes. So, I was so excited to stumble upon Coupon Chief, an online shoppers dream come true and a site filled with nearly every promo and coupon code out there, all within an attractive and very searchable website.

the door of my dreams

Do you remember the post when I talked about wanting a yellow front door? Well, we have one now! And it is bright yellow! Like, you can see it from a mile away kind of yellow. And… I LOVE IT! Continue reading

Sneak peek—our little man’s 1st birthday party

{photo credit --- Canary Grey Photography}

We are working on a few details of the big birthday bash post before we can share the party with you, but wanted to share a sneak peek of the party. This is Bodhi’s smash cake. A HUGE “thank you” goes out to Wing of Canary Grey Photography for capturing this day for us. It made the day so enjoyable for me because I didn’t need my camera strapped to my neck.

Keep stopping by in the next few weeks. We’ll have all the party details and a few do-it-yourself tutorials. Have a lovely weekend!

tiny toms for little feet

{photo credit---Canary Grey Photography}

Bodhi is a wild crazy walker these days. I love to buy shoes that are easy to get on his little feet and won’t just fall off. We recently bought him a pair of Tiny Tom’s. Love them! They are adorable plus Tom’s donates one pair of shoes for every pair purchased to a person in need. It’s a win-win! The photo above shows you Bodhi’s Tom’s on his birthday!

What are your favorite shoes for little feet?

mother’s day

Happy Mother’s Day to all of you moms out there. I hope your days were filled with hugs, kisses and lots of coffee!

Last year at this time I was a brand new mom. I hadn’t learned much about Bodhi yet and my husband and I had absolutely no idea what was in store. We were living in the moment trying to figure it all out. One of these days, I may share our birth story and I may talk a bit about my experience in the first three months of Bodhi’s life. This year was so different. Bodhi is ONE! He talks a bit and communicates with head nods and nonverbals. He eats everything and loves it. I can’t imagine my life any other way. We had brunch on our new porch this morning with both of our moms and my grandma. Continue reading

a tea party bridal shower

One of my best friends since childhood will marry her sweetheart on Saturday. I will be a bridesmaid again! Being a bridesmaid is my favorite thing ever. I know a lot of people complain about it, but there is something wonderful about spending the entire day with the bride-to-be having fun, getting beautiful and just enjoying each other before she marries the love of her life. Here are a few photos from the bridal shower we hosted a few months back. Continue reading

a simple cat door

If that headline doesn’t excite you, I don’t know what does!

While this post might not be the most inspiring or beautiful, it is very practical. With a little guy running all over the place, we had to install a cat door going to our new basement so we had no risks of Bodhi falling when someone forgot to shut the door. I had many nightmares about this during the first week or two in this house before my AMAZING uncle came and installed our cat door. Continue reading

celebration

We had so much fun at Bodhi’s birthday. After being sick for a week and a few bumps and bruises last week, he was all healed up and ready to party. All kinds of wonderful people showed up and celebrated with us. And Bodhi did really well with a strange nap scheduled. He powered through and had a blast. I wasn’t expecting him to have so much fun, but every time I turned a corner in our home, there he was… laughing, smiling or saying “hi” to someone and constantly walking through the sea of adult legs to get to another kid for a hug or kiss. He loved every minute!

We decided to have a professional photographer this time around so I really can’t wait to show you the photos. This was totally worth the investment for us. She was able to get family photos and lots of candids and detail shots. This meant I could just relax and enjoy my little baby/toddler and all of our guests. Watch for all of the details in the coming weeks! What is your favorite memory of your child’s first birthday or any of your own childhood birthdays?

the Baby Bjorn and celebrating the lasts

I recently read a blog post about a parent’s first lasts with their children and wanted to share my own forced first last. With kids, time goes so quickly and babies, in particular, change every day. So, you don’t always know when you experienced something for the last time. Such was the case for us not so long ago. Continue reading

a letter to my baby on the anniversary of your due date

Dear Bodhi,

What a year we have had my beautiful boy! You turn one in just a few days. At this time last year, I was still only imagining what you might be like and eagerly awaiting your arrival. Today is the anniversary of our due date. We expected you today and you made us wait. It was worth it. You have changed our lives in ways we never imagined. Continue reading
